Change happens

I have observed change happen when the process is planned, obstacles anticipated, climate and conditions just right, milestones set... and I have observed change happen when the events that unfold are unplanned, unexpected, unanticipated.

Can you predict the outcomes of both types of change? Probably not. However, outcomes are more predictable when systems and processes are integrated into a change, and when impacted groups' needs are identified and considered.

There are many change theories that are popular today. Probably one of the most widely used change theories is Kotter's 8 Steps for Leading Change.
